THE ART OF 22 / SPAIN RODRIGUEZ
Dive into the radical and incandescent world of Spain Rodriguez, a major figure of the American underground comix scene and iconic member of the Zap Comix team.
From the streets of Buffalo to San Francisco, Spain developed a body of work that is instantly recognizable, populated by bikers, revolutionaries, fringe characters, and explosive urban visions. His dense, uncompromising black line work blends pop culture, politics, violence, humor, and counter-culture with an energy that remains intact.
This new volume of THE ART OF celebrates his work through a selection of iconic and rare images, accompanied by a bilingual FR/EN booklet featuring two exclusive interviews: Denis Kitchen, cartoonist, publisher, historic figure of the American underground comix movement, and founder of Kitchen Sink Press, as well as Susan Stern, Spain Rodriguez's wife.
